Monterey Peninsula Light Rail Transit Project in Monterey County, California
Historic Resources Inventory and Evaluation Report
JRP prepared a Historic Resources Inventory and Evaluation Report for the Monterey Peninsula Light Rail Transit Project in Monterey County, California for project compliance with National Historic Preservation Act Section 106 and the California Environmental Quality Act. The Transportation Agency of Monterey County proposes to implement light rail transit (LRT) service along the existing and refurbished alignment of the Monterey Branch Line (MBL) of the Union Pacific Coast Line from Castroville to Monterey through Marina, Seaside, and Sand City. The project Area of Potential Effects included fourteen resources, consisting of the MBL, buildings at Fort Ord, mid-20th century commercial buildings, and the Monterey Southern Pacific Passenger Depot. The study included inventory and evaluation of the resources, including updating several that had been previously evaluated, such as the depot which was previously determined eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places and listed in the California Register of Historical Resources.
Prepared for Transportation Agency of Monterey County, 2009-2010.
