Lagunitas Road Bridge over Corte Madera Creek, Town of Ross, Marin County, California
Historic American Engineering Record
JRP prepared a Historic American Engineering Record (HAER) to fulfill, in part, requirements of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and the California State Historic Preservation Officer, for the Town of Ross’s project to demolish and replace the Lagunitas Road Bridge. The bridge is a contributing resource of the Ross Bridges Historic District, which was determined eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. The district is historically significant at the state level as the work of master bridge engineer John B. Leonard. The bridges represent the use of an innovative material (reinforced concrete) and design for its period and served as a precedent and standard for the other subsequent concrete bridges.
Prepared for URS Corporation, 2009-2010.
