Hunters Point

National Register of Historic Places Nomination and Historic American Engineering Record

JRP prepared two nominations to the National Register of Historic Places for historic properties at the former Hunters Point Naval Shipyard, the Hunters Point Commercial Drydock Historic District and Drydock 4, located in the City and County of San Francisco.  JRP also prepared a Historic American Engineering Record (HAER) for the Hunters Point Commercial Drydock Historic District.  These documents were prepared in support of a memorandum of agreement among the US Navy, the Advisory Council for Historic Preservation, and the California State Historic Preservation Officer regarding the leasing and disposal of historic properties on the former Hunters Point Naval Shipyard.  Read more »

Lava Cap Mine, Middle Residence and Lower Residence, Nevada County, California

Historic American Building Survey

JRP prepared a Historic American Building Survey (HABS) report for two residences on the former Lava Cap Mine in Nevada County.  This HABS report was prepared as part of mitigation for the adverse effect cause by demolition of the residences that were part of the EPA Superfund Site clean up of Lava Cap Mine. Feed Mill, Abattoir and Horseshoeing Buildings (Building Nos. 23, 30, 39), California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo, California

Historic American Building Survey

JRP prepared a photo documentation package based on a combination of both Historic American Building Survey (HABS) standards and NPS new policy for NR-NHL photographic documentation as outline in the National Register of Historic Places and National Historic Landmarks Survey Photo Policy Expansion (March 2005).  This project included oral history interviews with early members of the College of Agriculture, building descriptions, and 64 high-resolution, digital photographs of interior and exterior views of the Feed Mill, Abattoir and Horseshoeing buildings, as well as contextual views of the buildings.  Read more »

Historic American Buildings Survey and Video Documentation

JRP prepared Historic American Building Survey (HABS) Level II documentation for the Buildings 221 and 222 at the Del Monte Hotel, Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.  The HABS documents were prepared in accordance with the Historic American Building Survey standards as defined by the Secretary of the Interior's Guidelines for Architectural and Engineering Documentation.  Read more »

NASA Saturn S-II Complex, Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station, Orange County, California

Historic American Buildings Survey / Historic American Engineering Record

JRP prepared Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) / Historic American Engineering Record (HAER) Level II documentation for the NASA Saturn S-II Historic District located on Weapons Station, Seal Beach in northwestern Orange County, California.  JRP conducted an oral history component for this project that involved an interview with five former employees of the Saturn S-II program and the incorporation of this data in the historic narrative of the HAER document. Hog Barn, University of California Davis

Historic American Buildings Survey

JRP prepared Historic American Buildings Survey and video documentation of the Hog Barn on the University of California Davis campus in 2002.  This mitigation project included large format archival photographs, detailed architectural description, oral history interviews with students and staff who worked at the facility and production of broadcast-quality video documentation of the building prior to its relocation.
