Steven "Mel" Melvin

Historian I

Mr. Melvin’s experience at JRP encompasses many elements of general historical research and cultural resource management.  He has contributed to technical reports and architectural survey and evaluation projects.  He has conducted research in primary and secondary source material at public and private repositories in California, and has conducted field recordation of historic resources.  Mr. Melvin’s abilities also include report production, document management, and graphic illustration.

Prior to joining JRP in 2005, Mr. Melvin earned a B.A. in History from the University of Minnesota and a Certificate in Public History from California State University, Chico.  While in Chico, he completed an internship at the Northeast Information Center of the California Historical Resources Information System.  In May of 2007, he received his M.A. in Public History from California State University, Sacramento.  Mr. Melvin is a member of the National Council on Public History, California Council for the Promotion of History, the Western Historical Association, and the Butte County Historical Society.
